Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool were forced into spending millions this summer. The Reds have won the Champions League and the Premier League over the past two seasons but it looked as though they wouldn’t sanction any major signings ahead of their title defence.
That didn’t prove to be the case as Konstantinos Tsimikas, Thiago and Diogo Jota were all brought to Anfield ahead of the deadline, and it was been influenced by rival clubs.
Klopp mentioned the spending of Frank Lampard’s Chelsea when talking about the current financial issues in football last month, and has now admitted the influence of their business.
