Touching reason behind Bayern star Serge Gnabry wearing black nail polish explained
Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry is wearing black nail polish to raise awareness in stopping physical and sexual violence against young children. The former Arsenal winger was spotted by eagle-eyed fans with just one fingernail painted black, as the Bundesliga leaders romped to a 4-1 victory against Hertha Berlin on Sunday evening.German outlet BILD report, Gnabry, who netted Die Roten's fourth, marked his left thumb with black nail polish before taking to the field to support the "polished man" campaign. The campaign, founded by international organisation YGAP, originated in 2008 with the mission of "advancing global equity through inclusive entrepreneurship".Their "polished man" campaign raises awareness of child abuse, with the nail painting representing the fact that around the world one in five children under the age of 18 is a victim of sexual and physical violence. The inspiration for fingernail painting came from CEO, Elliot Costello, who had his nails painted by a girl who was rescued from being sexually and physically abused in an orphanage. And Gnabry is just one of several global stars advocating the movement.MARVEL actor Chris Hemsworth, One Direction singer Harry Styles and Hollywood heart-throb Zac Efron have all shown their support for the campaign by displaying a sole painted nail.Do you think more sports stars should show support for the "polished man" campaign?
