The Red Devils were linked with the Dortmund star for a number of months but were not able to conclude a deal for the England international before the transfer window closed on Monday night.
It now appears that Sancho will stay in Germany until next summer at the earliest, by which time Liverpool may resurrect their interest in the player.
The Reds were another team who were suggested as a potential destination for the 20-year-old at the start of the summer, with Klopp known to be a big admirer.
