Liverpool supporters broke out into mass applause for Cristiano Ronaldo after seven minutes of their game with Manchester United following the tragic death of his baby son.

Reds fans in attendance at Anfield put their football rivalry with the Red Devils aside and paid a classy tribute to Ronaldo, his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their family after they announced the news on Monday (April 18).

They clapped throughout the eighth minute of the Premier League fixture and sang their "You'll Never Walk Alone" anthem after planning their message of support on social media.United legend and Ronaldo's former team-mate Gary Neville described the moment as "a massive touch of class" while commentating for Sky Sports.United confirmed earlier today that Ronaldo would understandably not feature in their squad for the trip to Merseyside.A club statement read: "Family is more important than everything + Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time.
