Libby Squire was raped and murdered in a “terrible twist of fate” after straying into the path of sex offender Pawel Relowicz, a jury was told.
The 21-year-old student desperately screamed and “tried to fight off” the butcher, scratching his face, the prosecution said in their summing up. “She never stood a chance,” Mr Richard Wright QC, told Sheffield crown court.
Relowicz, a married dad-of-two, who was born in Poland, denies raping and murdering the University of Hull student. The 26-year-old factory butcher claims he was just trying to be a 'good samaritan' and drive her home.
