A Kilmarnock secondary school head had to hire 27 new teachers to deal with a high turnover crisis.St Joseph’s Academy head Joseph Kane made the new appointments since taking on the job about two years ago.He told a council meeting he had spent 26 working weeks out of 50 in a year dealing with interviews and applications.Since he took over at the helm at the Catholic school, Mr Kane said employee levels have now reached a stable level.The council meeting heard the school was experiencing major staffing changes when Education Scotland carried out an inspection.Inspectors rated the school “satisfactory” in four categories after a visit in October.Mr Kane said he “didn’t realise the scale of the task” before he took on the job.Describing the
