First announced by Music Venue Trust back in May 2022, the campaign went on to raise £2.3million in the first year through a series of donations and investments.It has been dubbed “The National Trust, but for venues”, and received backing by the likes of Ed Sheeran. It works as venues can sign a “cultural lease” with Music Venue Properties (MVP) – guaranteeing that, as long as they operate as a space for grassroots live music for their local community, they can enjoy use of the building.Now, MVP has announced that the latest venue to join its expanding portfolio is Le Pub in Newport.

Skindred have collaborated with Newport County AFC to create a one-off ‘Exiles’ away kit inspired by the Welsh city’s West Indian and ethnic community.The kit sees the band team up with Newport County AFC, the club’s kit suppliers, VX3, and their new official creative partners, Lover’s F.C celebrating the community through its unique Caribbean-flavoured design. The shirts are available for purchase at the club shop in Friars Walk, at the stadium on match days or online here.

Skindred have announced new UK tour dates set to take place this Autumn – see the full list of dates below.Earlier this week, the Welsh band took to social media to announce a new slate of tour dates across the UK, marking the second trek in the region in support of their 2023 album ‘Smile’.Dubbed the ‘Smile (Again)’ tour, Skindred will begin their run of shows in Hull on October 18, and will conclude the tour at the O2 Academy in Oxford on November 2. Other shows include Liverpool’s Olympia, Glasgow’s Barrowland and Leicester’s O2 Academy among others.Tickets to all shows – excluding Leicester and Oxford – are on sale now.

Glastonbury 2024 line-up, including Caity Baser, Lulu, Frank Turner and Skindred.Last month, the iconic Worthy Farm festival shared its official 2024 line-up for Glastonbury – with Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA being confirmed as headlining the iconic Pyramid Stage this summer, while Shania Twain will perform in the legends slot on the Sunday instalment.Now, following the main announcement, the organisers have begun counting down the weeks to this year’s edition by gradually announcing the artists playing at other stages around the site.This kicked off last week with news of new artists set to headline the Acoustic Stage later this summer, and now Glastonbury has shared details of its Field Of Avalon line-up.Announced this morning on the festival’s official X/Twitter page, the full bill for the stage has been shared, with performances from Baby Queen, Skindred, Frank Turner and Lulu all being locked in.For Lulu, the announcement comes following speculation of an upcoming Glasto slot that emerged last week. According to an anonymous source at the time, the 75-year-old singer would be playing at the festival to close off her ongoing ‘Champagne For Lulu’ farewell tour.

However, it is still too close to call, as by the mid-week mark, the band were in a neck-and-neck race with The Sherlocks’ ‘People Like Me and You’ album and Cian Ducrot’s debut album ‘Victory’ and only 500 units separated the three.Now, with the chart-topping album set to be officially announced later today (August 11), the band have revealed what it would mean to them to cinch the peak position.“We’ve been Number One for the past two days, and we’re just going to push like hell until Friday,” frontman Benji Webbe said on Tuesday (August 8) in a discussion with the Official Charts.

Skindred have announced some UK shows for 2024, including their biggest-ever show at Wembley Arena.The ragga-metallers will be coming to Wembley on March 15, with shows in Manchester and Birmingham on March 14 and 16 respectively.“Standing on that stage is a mark of sheer hard work. We have stood upon that stage supporting many truly great acts,” said frontman Benji Webbe in a press release.

Download Festival has announced the latest additions to its 2022 line-up, with Skindred and Yonaka among the new names.The festival will return from June 10-12 at Leicestershire’s Donington Park. KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro are due to headline.Today (February 24) festival organisers confirmed that Skindred, Yonaka, Alestorm, Banks Arcade, Bimini, Dana Dentata, Dirty Honey, Heriot, Kid Brunswick, Orbit Culture, Red Fang, The Velveteers and Will Haven have joined the line-up.It follows a previous announcement last September that A Day To Remember , Mastodon, Creeper, Shinedown, Black Veil Brides, Code Orange, Ice Nine Kills and more had been added to the line-up.
