Christmas inevitably changes when you have children. Suddenly the time feels much more magical, and you find yourself creating new traditions for the little ones.
The Royal Family are no different, and have their own quirky Christmas traditions. For example, on Christmas Eve the family usually open their presents together – as a nod to their German heritage.
These aren’t lavish and expensive gifts as you may expect, but joke presents – such as the singing hamster Meghan Markle got for the Queen.
According to the Royal website, the Royal Family “lay out their presents on trestle tables and will exchange their gifts at teatime”.In Germany, traditionally families open all their presents on Christmas Eve.
