In a much-publicised turn of events, controversial media personality Katie Hopkins was permanently deleted from Twitter. The social media giant revealed that they had permanently banned the divisive tweeter due to "violations of our hateful conduct policy".
While Hopkins' detractors have hailed the moment of her losing her central means of sharing her often derogatory opinions, it is not the first difficulty she has faced in recent years.
Having risen to fame as a reality TV villain seeking the approval of Sir Alan Sugar in BBC reality series The Apprentice in 2007, Katie sprang forth from the show to become an opinionated media presence with increasingly extreme views.
