Jury discharged in trial of company boss over Bosley Mill explosion that killed four people

George Boden, 64, of Church Road, Stockport, is charged with four counts of gross negligence manslaughter and a health and safety offence following the explosion at the Wood Treatment Ltd mill in Bosley, Cheshire, on July 17 2015.

His trial began at the Nightingale court at Chester Town Hall last week, but the jury was discharged on Friday, a spokesman for the court said.

Boden was standing trial alongside the firm, Wood Treatment Limited, which denies four counts of corporate manslaughter, as well as operations manager Philip Smith, 58, of Raglan Road, Macclesfield, and mill manager Peter.
