Jurgen Klopp reportedly left Sadio Mane upset by backing Virgil van Dijk in last year’s Ballon d’Or race. The German manager was vocal with his view that Van Dijk deserved to win the top individual accolade ahead of Lionel Messi.
Eventual winner Messi, on the other hand, lent his support and vote to Mane, who finished fourth after his fine campaign for Liverpool.
France Football recently claimed Mane is considering his Anfield future amid Real Madrid interest after Klopp’s Ballon d’Or stance.
But the German manager did make an interesting declaration about the Senegalese star after the awards. He highlighted how appreciated Mane is and tipped him to become a real contender to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.
