Football star Jordan Henderson’s plans to create a super-mansion could drive him batty. The Liverpool captain hopes to knock down two neighbouring houses he bought for £1.5million and build a giant dream home in their place.
But the properties are thought to be home to brown long-eared bats – a protected species. To proceed, he will have to build a “bat hotel” to safeguard them.
The loft in the garage next to his new house must feature bat access tiles in the roof and boxes for them to sleep in. Environmentalists say the roost will have be built before Henderson can start work on his own house – so the creatures are not left homeless.
