Jordan Henderson's plan to build super mansion on hold - because of bats

Football star Jordan Henderson’s plans to create a super-mansion could drive him batty. The Liverpool captain hopes to knock down two neighbouring houses he bought for £1.5million and build a giant dream home in their place.

But the properties are thought to be home to brown long-eared bats – a protected species. To proceed, he will have to build a “bat hotel” to safeguard them.

The loft in the garage next to his new house must feature bat access tiles in the roof and ­boxes for them to sleep in. Environmentalists say the roost will have be built before Henderson can start work on his own house – so the creatures are not left homeless.
