X Factor star Janet Devlin has revealed how she nearly died more than once. The stunning musician chatted exclusively to the Daily Star ahead of her It's Not That Deep tour which kicks off this week.During a Facebook Live tell-all, singer Janet spoke about her reality show stint and the devastating effects alcohol has had on her life.Janet is now, fortunately, six years in recovery and now aged 27, after joining the ITV competition when she was just 16-years-old in 2011.Talking during the tell-all session about the height of her addiction, Janet said: "I wasn't able to turn up for work.
I was constantly drunk. I was almost dying a lot either through taking my own life or I could have accidentally died like a million times."It was just really bad I was literally going missing for days. "I wasn't able to do any work and I wasn't a functioning human at all, so something had to give.Janet was also asked why it's vital for her to share her story with fans, after regular posting on TikTok and starring in a BBC documentary titled Janet Devlin: Young, Female and Addiction. She added: "I think for me it was quite important when I got sober there weren't a lot of young women talking about it because it's hard to find people with long sobriety who are young."I used to have to look up to Russel Brand, who I love, but he was a 40-year-old man."Despite being thrust into the spotlight as a young teen, Janet argues that this wasn't the root of her issues as they had raised their head before she competed on the programme. She continued: "I get that a lot - people are like 'TV messed her up,' but if you knew anything about me I was self-harming by 12 years old, I was anorexic by 15.
