Tottenham confirmed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Tuesday and revealed that the new boy will wear Jan Vertonghen’s No.5 shirt next season.
And Belgium international Vertonghen, who left Spurs earlier in the summer at the end of his contract, gave his reaction to the news.
Hojbjerg sealed a £15 million move from Southampton, while Kyle Walker-Peters has moved in the opposite direction and joined the Saints.
The signing will further bolster Jose Mourinho ’s midfield for next season as the Portuguese hopes to mastermind a top four finish or better.
