JAMES Martin came to the rescue of an elderly man who was about to be mugged at a cashpoint in London. The TV chef, 47, stopped thieves from snatching the pensioner's cash in busy Oxford Street - and said he'd do it again if he had to.

The have-a-go-hero told the latest issue of Prima magazine: “The other day, I was standing in a queue at a cashpoint in Oxford Street when, all of a sudden, someone pushed an elderly man out of the way and went to grab his money from the machine. "I managed to grab the culprit and the police were called.

People say, ‘You can’t do that because of who you are.’ Well b*****ks to that!” In the same interview, James has revealed that leaving Saturday Kitchen has given him his life back.
