He says: “You can check whether an egg is in date if it hasn’t got a stamp on it, by putting it in some water.” “If it rises to the top it’s an old egg, if it sinks to the bottom it’s a new egg.” The trick is perfect for those who throw away egg boxes and store the eggs in your fridge’s compartment.
But for those who do keep the boxes, it is not always necessary to follow the best before dates. Eggs often stay fresh far beyond the dates as they only advise on freshness, no ton whether they should be eaten or not.
