The homicide trial of ex ITV wrestling star Jim Breaks has been suspended due to coronavirus. Earlier this year Breaks, 80, was charged with killing his ex-girlfriend Donna Cowley, 47, at his Gran Canaria flat and his trial was due to begin in court in Las Palmas on Monday.
He had been warned state prosecutors were demanding a 15-year jail sentence ahead of his trial. Other trials are still going ahead as scheduled but Breaks' was postponed as it was bing tried by a nine-member jury and not three judges as sometimes happens in Spain.
State prosecutors said he punched Ms Cowley around the face and body after smashing a cup over her head during an argument. Breaks, from Bradford, west Yorks, was remanded in prison after his June 30 2017
