One neighbour described seeing a number of officers with machine guns as a scene akin to “something out of a Wild West film”.
Another described hearing shots being fired as armed officers surrounded a black car, which was later pictured with a smashed rear window, during the incident on Wednesday afternoon (July 14).
The action was part of an ongoing Lancashire Police operation into the “disruption of organised crime”. Three people were arrested on suspicion of firearm offences following the incident on Queens Road - which happened just before 5pm.
