Instagram model has moaned about the setbacks while building her dream "castle" home from scratch.Carrie LaChance, who has 1.1 million followers on Instagram, had planned to build the dream castle home after purchasing the land with her husband Nate for $260,000 (£214,000).The pair had intended to construct a £2.5 million mansion on the site on the lakeside site in Dallas, but found that their dream home featuring a cinema room and a 24-karat gold sink, was a bit more difficult to realise than they expected.

While it usually takes around five months to construct a new home, the couple began the build back in 2020 and still haven't completed the project thanks to a plethora of setbacks and complications. The project has been scuppered by pandemic labour shortages, rising costs of materials, and struggling to even find the basics to continue with construction. They even took out an extra $100,000 (£82,000) to help cover the additional unexpected costs, but even those funds had run dry by the end of the year. While building a basic house would previously take around five months, according to the LaChance's builder Joshua Correa, that timescale has now doubled.

He said: “It was like a chain reaction. Everybody started charging more — for everything.”Costs have been rising across the board for the construction, with rising fuel costs for suppliers of materials such as lumber being passed on to their clients, and in turn onto the LaChances.
