Every day, thousands of drivers motor past one of the most famous homes in the north of England. The white washed walls of the farm house are famous because the property lies slap bang in the middle of the busy M62 motorway.
Just before it appears the two carriageways separate to reveal fields and the home standing proudly on its own in one of the most unusual locations in the country.
The motorway, which links Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, is one of the busiest in the country, then merges once again a few miles past the house.
Over the years since the M62 was built in the 1960s, a raft of rumours and urban myths have sprung up as to why Stott Hall Farm stands prouly where it is.
