Doris and Charles Clark endured every parent's worst nightmare when their son Steven mysteriously vanished. Then 28 years later, they went through the hellish ordeal of being arrested on suspicion of murdering their missing boy.
Steven, who was 23 at the time, was reported missing after he went into a public toilet at Saltburn, North Yorkshire, on December 28, 1992 during a walk with his mother and failed to return.
Over the next 28 years, the case was subjected to numerous reviews by senior police officers, who all classified Steven as missing, until a new team reviewed it in 2020 and classified his disappearance as murder.
