He then underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, serving temporarily with his brother Prince William, and he completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–08, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence there. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012–13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.

Princess Eugenie 'will act as peacemaker' for Prince Harry amid royal rift, expert says

While the ongoing royal rift between Prince Harry and the institution continues, Princess Eugenie could be seen as a glimmer of hope for the Royal Family by acting as a "peacemaker" as she is said to have remained close with the Duke of Sussex.

Jennie Bond told OK! the cousins have always been close, and after pictures emerged of Harry, 37, and Eugenie, 31, sitting watching the Super Bowl together in California, the royal author said she is convinced they have been in touch with each other throughout the crisis of the Royal Family drifting apart from Harry. "This rift has got to be solved one way or another," Jennie says, while it has been said that Prince Charles, 73, and Prince William, 39, don't have lines of communication with Harry at the moment.

I’m absolutely certain Eugenie and Harry are still as close," before touching on that many thought the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, would have been the one to help salvage the tensions between the brothers. "I think we all thought Kate would be the peacemaker, certainly at the funeral of Philip when she was engineering a chat between Harry and William," she shared.
