The year was 1999, the World Wide Web was still young and Manchester student Matt Mavir had suffered a sports injury. The 22-year-old had lots of time on his hands when he decided to create a website offering tips and pranks for best men planning stag dos.
It was hoped the site, called Last Night of Freedom, could earn him some extra cash by selling advertising space to companies.
But it saw a random surge in popularity one evening – leading to a business that has so far turned over £100m and supplied stag do t-shirts for a royal bash.
Matt, now 46, had been studying business at Manchester Metropolitan University when he set up the website in his third year.
