Dear A&E, My husband and I live in a small basement flat in London. [The first] lockdown was tough and I’m desperate to move to the countryside, but he won’t budge.
I’ve been feeling like this since our two-year-old daughter was born. I’m on Rightmove most days, making mood boards. I’d go ANYWHERE rural.
But he argues staying put is necessary for work (he’s a freelance producer) and says he’d miss his friends. I’ve suggested places that are an easy commute and I’ve shown him bigger houses in rural areas where his friends could come to stay, but he’s adamant.
The suburbs aren’t an option, as it’s the worst of both worlds. And I can’t see a compromise. —StuckDear Stuck,So many people will be identifying with your situation.
