Summer Of Soul producer Joseph Patel has said that Will Smith “robbed” Questlove of his winning moment and last week’s Oscars.Questlove was handed the Best Documentary statue by Chris Rock at this year’s ceremony, just moments after Smith slapped Rock onstage over a joke he made about wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. In 2018, Pinkett Smith revealed she has alopecia.Smith has been widely criticised for his outburst. While accepting the Best Actor award for his performance in King Richard, he apologised to the Academy as well as his fellow nominees in the category.He later issued a formal apology to Rock, admitting: “I was out of line and I was wrong.” The Oscars, meanwhile, launched a formal review into the incident while condemning Smith’s actions.Today (March 31) Joseph Patel posted a lengthy thread on Twitter to share “some thoughts and feelings on what happened Sunday night”, adding that he’s “still sort of processing” everything.“I think what Will did was selfish,” he continued.

The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli has revealed that he met with a witch to help get Summer Of Sam made.Speaking in the documentary Ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel, the actor explained how he took supernatural steps to get the 1999 crime-thriller — which he co-wrote with Spike Lee and Victor Colicchio — through development.“I really wanted to get it made. So I met somebody who was living here [in the Chelsea Hotel] who was a witch, who said he could help me get it made, but it wasn’t going to happen the way I thought it would.“I was very ambitious at the time and wanted to get that made, so (I) resorted to tapping into otherworldly means to get it through the studio system.”Imperioli also had a cameo in the film, which is based on the real-life serial killer David Berkowitz (also known as the Son of Sam), who operated in New York in 1977.

Mr Turner and Summer Of Rockets actor Timothy Spall has joined Lesley Manville to headline PBS/BritBox crime series Magpie Murders, which goes into production next week in Suffolk and Ireland.

Questlove made his directorial debut at this year's Sundance Film Festival with Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised), chronicling the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival aka "Black Woodstock." Now, the film has officially won both the Grand Jury and audience prizes in the documentary category, beating nine other films. "It has always been a dream of mine to direct films and telling this story has truly been an amazing experience," Questlove said in a statement about the win.
