war veteran known as “the world’s oldest paperboy” has died aged 106.Walter Sharp passed on Wednesday, 12 days after celebrating his birthday.
He was born three days after the outbreak of World War I and was one of five children. Walter earned a clutch of medals in recognition of his service in World War II, including France’s Legion of Honour and the African Star, and toured several countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy.
He earned his nickname after getting up at 6.30am to deliver newspapers to his neighbours in Camelon, Falkirk, where he lived until his death.
