As a beauty editor, I would never attempt to ruin my hairdresser’s handiwork as I know the skill that goes into even the subtlest of haircuts.

But that’s easy for me to say; I have long, layered hair that can afford to grow a few inches without looking slovenly or falling in my eyes.  'What if you have a fringe?' I asked my hairdresser, Larry King, when discussing the dangers of cutting your own hair at home.

While he maintains that, for the most part, you should avoid taking scissors to your own hair, there is one exception: the fringe.
