Households cutting essential outgoings and bills is priority this January

GoCompare Money has found that 88 per cent of Brits are looking to make savings on essential outgoings and bills in 2021, including food shopping, TV viewing, mobile and internet contracts and car insurance.

Covid-19 has caused an economic crisis on both a worldwide and domestic household level with enhanced lockdown measures now in place to halt the spread of the virus.

However, these have resulted in sharp falls in employment, wages, and income, leaving many people feeling financially insecure and needing to tighten their purse strings at the start of 2021.

The  GoCompare Money study found that well over a third (36%) of people surveyed, said the rising cost of living is a major concern for 2021, while 30 per cent revealed they are.
