When Coronation Street bosses first introduced Hayley Cropper, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh, to the cobbles back in 1998, they sought the assistance of a number of people to ensure the trans character was played as realistically as possible.
One of those people hired to consult was Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace, who has spoken up about how she kept her transition a secret during this time.
