Coronation Street 'confirms' return of Audrey’s son Stephen to ITV soap after 15 years
Coronation Street bosses look to have been searching through the roster of former characters, as another big name has reportedly been lined up for a return.Todd Boyce, best known for playing Audrey Roberts’ son Stephen Reid on the ITV cobbles, is allegedly returning to our screens later this year after 15 years away.Stephen was born to Audrey and her ex Geoff Masters, and is the half-brother of Gail Platt. His storylines in the past have included meeting his long-lost sister Gail and forming a bond with nephew Nick - who was sent to live with Stephen after his relationship with Gail became tense. And now a source has confirmed to Metro.co.uk that Stephen is coming back, amid Audrey’s ongoing frustrations with being viewed as an old woman - with fans fearing she’ll soon be killed off amid rising health concerns.Audrey was diagnosed with cataracts after being forced to see an optician by her fretting family - and after suffering a few car crashes. She's also made a few worrying mentions of her coffin and funeral plans. They said: “There are concerns about her welfare and her drinking and so when Stephen comes back, she finds herself comforted by his support.“It’s the start of a big Platt story that will put Audrey at the centre of the action again – the rest of the Platts will be suspicious over Stephen and what he wants.“So what is he after and should Audrey be listening to the rest of the clan?”Todd made his first appearance on the show in 1996, before eventually departing the cobbles in 2007.He was last mentioned on-screen in 2015, when David persuaded Gail to stay with him while attempting to hide Callum Logan’s body, buried under the garage.
