Hero's welcome at school for boy, 6, who beat Leukaemia after pioneering treatment

Leukaemia survivor Oscar Saxelby-Lee was welcomed back by classmates after having a pioneering treatment overseas. The six-year-old is now free of the disease after becoming the second child in the world to undergo CAR-T therapy.

Oscar was greeted by delighted pals as parents Olivia Saxelby, 25, and Jamie Lee, 28, drove him past Pitmaston Primary School in Worcester, yesterday.

Olivia said: “This has been the best day of our lives. I could never be prouder of our community. We love you all.” Headteacher Kate Wilcock said: “This is the icing on the cake.

He’s come home, cancer free. It makes it real now to see him in person. It is fantastic. After a £600,000 crowdfunding campaign, Oscar flew to Singapore for treatment three months ago.
