A couple who spent an incredible 52 years together have died of Covid-19 just 14 days apart. David, 76, and Maria Emmott, 74 and from Oldham, Greater Manchester, celebrated their wedding anniversary on September 28 by going to a local for a quiet drink.
But on October 18, David, a great-granddad and retired toolmaker, was found to have a high temperature during a chest clinic as he suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
He tested positive to Covid-19 and self-isolated for two weeks. But David starting experiencing breathing difficulties and was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he spent three days in intensive care, the Manchester Evening News reports.
