Just two days later Lisa called John's GP who immediately noticed his leg was deformed and warned her that the broken bone was likely to break through the skin.Retired prison officer John had previously undergone two knee replacements and was suffering with a range of illnesses, including heart failure, septic arthritis, asthma and COPD.
He was on end-of-life care and Lisa says he refused to return to the hospital for treatment to his leg because he was scared of dying there.The bone came through the skin on September 16 and Lisa says her dad was in immense pain.
He passed away at home on November 25, and while an inquest has ruled that the broken leg did not contribute to John's death, Lisa believes the horrendous pain her dad was in could have been avoided.
