Wales we moved to Somerset. I still know people dotted around, which feels important after Cornwall. In some ways Bath is as I remember it: posh.
Although the alternative undercurrent that used to keep it grounded seems to have thinned out since I lived there. Frome, rough as anything when I was young, has now become a swinging outpost for the ’90s Notting Hill set, the kind of people you used to see backstage at Glastonbury Festival, which is probably how they first discovered Somerset.
