ITV game show history back in 2008, when he lost the biggest amount of money ever on Golden Balls, hosted by Jasper Carrott.Facing up against his rival Sarah, the pair reached the final round and were tasked with choosing to split or steal the final cash, which amounted to more than £100k.

If both players chose the split ball, they could have walked away with half each.Instead, Sarah chose to steal, while Stephen opted to split - leaving him with nothing.Stephen spoke exclusively to Daily Star about his experience on the programme, and revealed that the audience weren't kind to Sarah after what she did. "As soon as the show ended, I heard one woman in the audience shout, 'you f***ing b****, I hope you f***ing die in hell'," he explained. "I was literally head down in tears for 15, 20 minutes, and she got whisked straight off the stage."Despite his grief at Sarah's betrayal, Stephen admitted he was more worried about her wellbeing. He explained: "I went out for a meal with Jasper, the director and the woman who brings the balls over.

All the way during the night I kept asking how Sarah was, was she okay or upset?"And Jasper kept saying, 'Why are you bothered about her?' That’s who I am, I can’t change who I am - I care too much about other people. "Jasper was just amazed because I kept asking, 'Does she have people round her, is she being looked after?'"Because at the end of the day, she played the game.

I went with nothing, I left with nothing - but she’s got to live with that decision, she’s the one who’s going to get the grief. "In that moment all I could think was, 'She’s going to get hounded for this', and, 'Is she okay?'" he added. But despite his own worry, Stephen admitted Sarah never once got in contact with him.
