Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley called out Will Smith as they discussed his altercation with Chris Rock at the 93rd annual Oscar Awards.

Comedian Chris Rock took to the stage and began citing jokes as he entertained the crowd and made a “G.I. Jane joke” about Jada Pinkett-Smith, Will Smith’s wife.Actress Demi Moore shaved her head for the role, which made the comment particularly offensive as Jada suffers from alopecia. Will took to the stage and attacked Chris before he returned to his seat and shouted at Rock to “keep his wife’s name out of his mouth”.Good Morning Britain showed a live broadcast of the event and cut to a shot of the red carpet to show Will, Jada and their kids as they posed for the cameras. Will clutched his first ever Oscars award, for which he won Best Actor for his role in the biopic film King Richard, as the paparazzi snapped pictures of the star.Richard said that GMB viewers were very vocal about the incident and that the show had received calls from fans, which seemed to result in a 50/50 divide in opinion.Madeley noted that GMB had received “more response from women than men” and read out some of the messages. One said that he should be “stripped of his Oscar” while another thought it was “totally understandable”.A viewer came to Will’s defence and said they “couldn’t love Will Smith more” due to their personal experience with alopecia.Richard then asked Susanna whether she would have the same reaction to the smack if it had been Jada hitting Chris.

She announced that she was “very clear” where she stands on the matter, saying: "I don't think anyone should be smacking anyone!"I don't know if I have made this clear enough...I just want to make it clear for the third time,.
