Gerwyn Price ended with him out of pocket as well following a light-hearted wager on his return to the UK. Fresh from his lowly seventh-place finish in the Premier League, The Iceman crashed of the Dutch Darts Championship in Zwolle on Saturday night, losing 6-5 to veteran Mervyn King in the second round.
After the defeat, Price took to Instagram to reveal how “gutted” he was about his recent form and how the new Premier League format had left him drained.
He posted: “Gutted the way I’m playing atm… well and truly burnt out. Premier League format has drained the living daylight out of me, I won’t give up tho, I’m a fighter, thanks all for the kind messages, next stop New York [for the US Darts Masters, which starts on June 3].”However, he did at least end the weekend with a smile on his face, albeit with a lighter wallet after losing a wager at the airport with fellow player Rob Cross and Cross’s agent, Rab Bain.It was the latter who won the bet to see whose luggage would arrive at baggage collection first.
