Gerwyn Price will be in action at this weekend’s European Darts Open in Germany after the draw for the tournament was made. The Iceman has endured a difficult 2022 so far, suffering a hand injury and inconsistent form.
For the most part, he has played on with the issue, but after discovering he had broken a bone in the hand he admitted it had affected his game mentally.
Price has also opened up about the sport’s relentless schedule, saying there are too many tournaments and that he intended to manage his schedule as he looks to avoid burnout.Last week, as he announced his decision to pull out of the Austrian Darts Open in Graz, Price said: “Real busy schedule lately so I’ve decided to take some well needed rest, will be missing the euro tour and won’t be in Austria this weekend.” In the same week, he spoke about the intense PDC schedule, telling Online Darts TV: “It is too many tournaments.
I’m going to miss a lot of ranking events. “I’m going to miss one or two of the Europeans [events] coming up. I don’t think I going to go to Graz next week, I’m going to miss some Pro Tours [events], that’s basically because it’s too much and I’m literally, with an [hand] injury, burning myself out.” However, it looks like Price has decided to compete in Leverkusen this weekend.
