Met Office predicts 'continental plume' as showers threaten Queen's Jubilee weekend
Met Office have revealed the weather Brits can expect ahead of the Platinum Jubilee weekend as forecasts suggest a royal washout could be on the way instead. The UK will enjoy a four-day Bank Holiday weekend beginning on Thursday June 2, to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne.Temperatures next week could exceed the current 2022 high of 27.5C as Brits prepare to celebrate with a week full of festivities. But early predictions show a low-pressure front from France dampening spirits with heavy downpours by Saturday of the Jubilee weekend.Dan Rudman, Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, said: "As we move into next week, there's a more mixed picture once again."He added: "Spells of rain affecting many places before more settled conditions are expected through the middle of the week, though still with the chance of some showers even then.""Although the Jubilee Weekend is still a week away, what we're keeping an eye on is how a plume of warm air behaves later in the week."Which, despite returning temperatures to around average for the time of year, could also bring some showers as it moves in from the south and travels north on Thursday and Friday."It will follow higher temperatures this weekend, which are expected to reach the high teens and early 20s.Meteorologist Aiden McGivern said: "The pressure is on for a ten-day trend - it includes two bank holidays at the end of next week.Mr McGivern said that colder and rainy weather would start moving in from Sunday and then it will be quite unsettled and unpredictable by the end of the week."Some computer models are suggesting that low will drift our way from the southwest for the end of next week to bring widespread showers and outbreaks of rain from the southwest,"

Platinum Jubilee heatwave hopes shaken after new Met Office weather forecast
weather for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee are being dampened down as new forecasts suggest a royal washout could be on the way instead.Earlier predictions for the bumper bank holiday weekend had been promising, with the extended celebrations from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June possibly falling in the middle of a '10-day heatwave'.Some have even tipped the mercury to soar to 30C during the scorching start to summer — but a new wave of meteorological data says otherwise.Weather maps from independent forecaster WX Charts now display showers falling in the UK on every day of the four-day knees-up.Celebrity performers at the Queen's Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday evening may escape the worst of the rain, however, with the likes of Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers and Sam Ryder taking to the stage during a dry spell.Party-lovers hoping to hold a 'Big Jubilee Lunch' on the Sunday should also be mostly in the clear, with limited showers forecast across the UK that day.The Met Office meanwhile say that current conditions make the Jubilee weekend impossible to call, with all hopes riding on one unpredictable weather system behaves.Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Rudman said: “Although the Jubilee Weekend is still a week away, what we’re keeping an eye on is how a plume of warm air behaves later in the week, which, despite returning temperatures to around average for the time of year, could also bring some showers as it moves in from the south and travels north on Thursday and Friday.” The new forecasts of a wet start to the month have seen odds slashed from 5/1 to 3/1 on June being the wettest on record at a high street bookies.Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "The weather still can't seem to make up its mind, but the

Brits told to prepare for '10 day heatwave' as summer could begin with 25C scorcher
weather forecasters for the first week of June, with the official beginning of meteorological summer coming on the first day of day of the month.Months of miserable weather and bad news could soon be forgotten as the Queen's Platinum Jubilee gives people across the nation an extended four-day weekend to soak up the rays.Temperatures will begin to warm up from Thursday (May 26), and by Friday (May 27) lucky people in the southwest of England will see the mercury reach 25C.The warm and bright weather will continue through the national Jubilee celebrations right up until Sunday June 5.Forecaster Phil Morrish explained that a high-pressure pattern building across Britain would be behind the warm temperatures, and told Daily Express: "As we go towards the Jubilee week, air pressure looks like it is starting to rise."By next Saturday it's starting to build across the UK, which will bring some finer warm and sunny conditions with temperatures next Saturday up to 20C, or 21C and 22C.In the meantime however things look to be a little more unsettled thanks to the incoming jet stream, with some periods of heavy downpour likely.Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Rudman said: “The strengthening of the jet stream increases the chances of low-pressure systems developing over the Atlantic being pushed towards the UK.
