Greater Manchester will finally see some summery weather this week as the UK is set to be hit with a Spanish heatwave. Clear blue skies, sunshine and soaring temperatures will take over the region with predictions that Friday will be the 'hottest day of the year'.

Sun seekers are already getting a glimpse of the heatwave that is to come with temperatures beginning to heat up, reaching a high of 22C today.

But it is on Friday when Greater Manchester will really feel the heat. Temperatures across the city region are set to be hotter than Lanzarote reaching as high as 27C, according to the Met Office, which would also make it the warmest day that we have had so far this year.
