Racism in football is once again in the spotlight after Raheem Sterling highlighted the lack of black representatives within the Football Association and the lack of opportunities for BAME coaches.
And Southgate will take a zero-tolerance approach if racism raises its ugly head in future internationals, ignoring UEFA’s three-step protocol.
That states there should be a stadium announcement after the first incident, a suspension of play after a second, and an abandonment after a third.
