Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has explained why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club for Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The Gunners cancelled Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week contract, which still had 18 months left to run, to allow him to join Barca.
The 32-year-old left north London under a cloud after being stripped of the captaincy by manager Mikel Arteta following “disciplinary breaches”.
He had not played for the club since December 6 and had been training alone, away from his team-mates, before his transfer was completed on deadline day.Aubameyang had clearly fallen out with Arteta, but his relationship with his Arsenal team-mates was unclear.Gabriel has now insisted that there was no problem in the dressing room, stressing that the Gabon striker’s problem was limited to Arteta and his coaching staff. "Aubameyang is in my heart, we all wanted him at Arsenal,” he told the OhMyGoal YouTube channel. “It's something that happened between him and the coaching staff, the other players weren't in it."I said goodbye to him before he left.
