It’s 2020 and people are still dancing to Elvis Crespo’s 1998 song “Suavemente,” further proving that his merengue hit is timeless even over 20 years after its release.While the song continues to be all the rage at Club Quarantine, the Puerto Rican singer never stops from reinventing himself.
After establishing himself as a household merengue star, Crespo has dipped his toes in the EDM scene, collaboration with Steve Aoki and Deorro, he released Diomedizado in 2018 as a special tribute to the late vallenato singer Diomedes Diaz, and revamped his merengue hits to Plena versions on his album Suavemente, 20 Aniversario (2019).Crespo gained success in the mid-'90s when he joined Grupo Mania in Puerto Rico.
