Jessica Chastain was not expecting to win at the SAG Awards! The actress took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (February 27) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Jessica won the award for her work in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, beating out The Lost Daughter‘s Olivia Colman, House of Gucci‘s Lady Gaga, Respect‘s Jennifer Hudson, and Being the Ricardos‘ Nicole Kidman. Click inside to watch her acceptance speech… “Wow, okay, I’m really surprised,” Jessica said while beginning her speech. “I’m completely stunned.” Jessica talked about the real Tammy Faye. “She was a real trailblazer,” she said. “She wrapped her arms around those who were repeatedly cast aside and she launched herself into decades of LGBTQ love.

I worked on the project for ten years, and I hope that we made her story in a way that she would be proud of.” Jessica also discussed her dream of being an actor. “I wanted to be an actor my whole life, and ever since I was a kid it was the only thing I ever really thought about, and there were years of studying and auditioning and not getting jobs.

And I know what that feels like and I know the loneliness of what that feels like,” she said. Jessica continued, “And so, for those of you who are struggling and feeling unseen I just want you to keep going because you’re one job away, I promise!
