Naman Ramachandran Bertelsmann’s Luxembourg-based media giant RTL Group, which owns Fremantle, has declared its annual financial results for 2020 and it is yet another tale of revenues and profits hit by the pandemic.The RTL Group has interests in 67 television channels, 10 streaming platforms and 38 radio stations.
The group’s content business, Fremantle, is one of the world’s largest creators, producers and distributors of scripted and unscripted content, including “American Idol,” “Britain’s Got Talent,” and “The X Factor.”The RTL Group’s overall revenue fell by 9.5% to €6.02 billion ($7.18 billion) from 2019’s €6.65 billion ($7.93 billion), while adjusted earnings before interest, taxes and amortization declined 14.2% to €853 million.
