Nigel Benn against Gerald McClellan was one of the most compelling fights to be ever staged in a British ring. But the tragic outcome showed the good and bad of boxing in one bout.
It was February 1995 at the London Arena when the two super-middleweight warriors put it all on the line. The build-up was hostile and downright nasty with Benn even losing his cool with me at the final press conference.
The Dark Destroyer thought I was in cahoots with McClellan's promoter Don King about getting him beat. But it was a mandatory defence against the American and I hardly wanted a Yank to bring the title back across the Atlantic.
