Five police officers have quit before they could be fired after failing to get medical help for a man who died in custody. Distressing footage shows Harold Easter say "Do you think I want to die?" as he gripped a table in his cell.
The 41-year-old had swallowed cocaine after being stopped by police in Charlotte, North Carolina, CNN reports. Officers were aware that he had swallowed the drugs during the arrest, but did not get him the attention he needed, investigators said.
Shocking video released by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department show that he was left alone in a cell despite being visibly unwell.
