Five huge bears hibernated under home for months – and homeowners had no idea

mystery family were not human – they were, in fact, a family of black bears.The human family, currently renting a home in South Lake Tahoe, California, had hear noises described as “purring” under their floorboards and had gone to ask their neighbours if they had also been hearing them.Having discovered that this was just an isolated incident, the noises grew louder until last week they started to sound like actual bears.The unnamed family called not-for-profit charity BEAR League who came to investigate.And that's when the group who keep bears in the area safe checked under the house to find a mother bear and four cubs living there – and they had apparently been living there since December.The group posted about the findings on Facebook, and it appears that the bear is somewhat of a local celebrity, too.They wrote: “Last year she had three cubs and when they were about 9 months old she adopted an orphan of the same age from her neighbourhood.“Then she had four active, chubby little bears following her around.“When it came time to go to sleep for the winter she found a house with an unsecured crawl space opening and ushered all the kids inside and told them to be quiet and go to sleep.“It was a home where people lived and they thought they heard some odd rumbling, snoring-like noises but ignored it because it simply didn't make sense and the neighbours said they were imagining it because they didn't hear anything.“Today (April 20) the bear family awoke and prepared to exit and the people in the house could no longer deny there was probably a bear under the house.“So they called the BEAR League and we arrived immediately.“We un-invited Mama Bear, not yet aware there were four more bears under the house.“It was quite the.
