Lingerie mogul Michelle Mone has home raided by police over £200m PPE fraud probe

millions from selling sexy underwear has had her home raided by police.National Crime Agency officers searched the lingerie entrepreneur's properties in London and the Isle of Man for evidence of £203 million worth of pandemic PPE contracts issued by the Government.The 50-year-old Tory peer denied any involvement with Isle of Man-based company PPE Medpro which received Government contracts.Lady Mone however was found to have put PPE Medpro forward to the office of fellow Tory peer Theodore Agnew who at the time was a Cabinet Office minister responsible for procurement.Lord Agnew’s office added the company to the Government’s “VIP lane,” which allegedly bolstered its chances of a deal ten times over.

PPE Medpro and a UK subsidiary were established only a matter of weeks before landing the mega order for 25 million sterile gowns and masks for the NHS.As a result the NCA has launched an investigation into the awarding of the contracts by the Department of Health and Social Care.Lady Mone is understood to have been present but not arrested when police were rummaging around her house as they hunted documents relevant to suspected fraud offences, The Sun reports.Files leaked to The Guardian suggested Lady Mone was involved with PPE Medpro despite her making clear that she had no role or function in the company which also denies wrongdoing.For more shocking stories from the Daily Star, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters hereAccording to the same newspaper, gowns that the UK Government splashed £122million on were bought by a Chinese manufacturer for just £46million.The gowns were embarrassingly deemed not even fit for purpose by the NHS.Labour peer George Foulkes has accused Lady Mone of failing to fully disclose.
