First zoo animal tests positive for coronavirus

Nadia, a four-year-old female Malayan tiger, at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo was tested by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory after she - along with six other big cats at the zoo - developed a dry cough.

All of the cats are expected to fully recover. Nadia the tiger is the first animal to be infected in the United States, according to CNN.

She is also the first zoo animal to be tested for the virus.  “Though they have experienced some decrease in appetite, the cats at the Bronx Zoo are otherwise doing well under veterinary care and are bright, alert, and interactive with their keepers,” the Wildlife Conservation Society said. “It is not known how this disease will develop in big cats since different species
